A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF THE URDU VERB PHRASE

This article investigates VP construction in Urdu based on the Minimalist Program. The Minimalist Program has been instrumental in achieving the explanatory adequacy of the description of Urdu VP structure. It is clear that the Minimalist Program can be further explored in the descripti0n of m0re c0mplex syntactic structures in Urdu. This data can add to the cross-linguistic data of all languages in efforts to develop the universals of human language. This research is based on the descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative methods. Based on the analysis, it is found that all languages have almost the same binary representation, with a variation of grammatical sentence structure, like Urdu Verb Phrase has S+0+V structure, which is different from English.
