A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATION OF THE POEM “BULLAH KIJANAY MEIN KON” BY BULLEH SHAH

This research is based on Translation Analysis of the poem that is written By Punjabi Sufi
poet Bulleh Shah. This paper attempts to compare two translations of the poem by two different
Translators. The poem is translated by Rabbi Shergill and Fatima Sohnya Jamal from Punjabi
Language to English Language. Translators who hail from different background have looked at
the poem from different angles, thus it influenced the translating process. Researcher selected the
model of Eugene Nida’s principle of equivalent effect as the framework of the research. The
purpose of the study is to analyze that either these translation convey the content, form and feel of
the original text or not in the perspective of Nida’s approach of translation. This article will be
helpful to understand the sense of original text which is used by Bulleh Shah and also will helpful
to find which translation is closer with the original text.
